This is one of many search results that come up when you buzz in ‘electronica.’ It’s partly true, several iconic electronica acts á la Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy seem to fit into this category. But it’s more than that - and on a more literal note, nobody is dancing to trip-hop, apart from me.
To me electronica is more so an era in time. Think: Late 90s, Hussein Chalayan, Corinne Day, Björk, William Orbit, Juergen Teller, Portishead, Massive Attack - that’s what I’m getting at here. It was a time of artistic change - the 2000s were steadily approaching, and the century had one last artistic trick up its sleeve. Before the wrath of EDM, that is.
